Well now I see and I will be running off ball cause it will be my first time using riggers. Thanks again for great info:)
One more thing are you running an 8 or 12 inch flasher? plus I will be going out of morro soon as weather lets up. Hope to see you there

We run the clip, 15 feet from the Downrigger Ball.

Seems like a long way to clip but I'm willing to try it. Do you run flasher in between that to?
I am sorry, I miss spoke on the clip from the downrigger ball, the clip about 6ft from the ball, I was thinking when we run 2 downriggers at a time, we go at differenr depths, at least 15 feet apart, say one at 25, and one at 40. Sorry for the miss step.

I clip one about ft above ball. Then one 10 ft above that. My apex or lire is 10 ft behind boall. I've caught fish off both. Everyone has their own way. I have every possible set up. I only use the watermelon flasher and apex. They were biting everything. Got autopilot in today. Hopefully weather slows down.nill be there soon as it does.

Hey John, about how long is the flasher with clips setup your using. Thanks much
I'm using the hot shot mini flashers. I have all different sizes but the minis work great. I'm gonna guess that the clips are couple feet long. Maybe 3 ft total with flasher tied in middle.

Honestly I don't think it matters. I have different length clips. I just cut in center and tie flasher in middle. I like it on the clip attached to wire. Then about 10 ft of line back. It works just fine. Then when fighting a fish you don't have that extra pull of the flasher.

John at what depth are the weights set. How much weight is necessary ?
it just depends. we fished 150 ft with weight at 120ft, 100ft, 80ft. most fish caught closer to bottom. but we caught few in 150ft water with ball down at 80ft and top line at 60ft. i use 12lb downrigger weights. if your going to use the release clips, i call em whistles. ive done gd with 2lb balls. in 100 ft 1lb balls. i have the scotty 1116s dual rod downriggers. so i take 4 guys so i can run all 4 rods. ill set one side closer to bottom and i put each line 10ft higher on wire from last. so i have baits at all depths.

i run mine at 10ft levels. so i have lets say im in 150ft water depth. 1st down rigger with 2 rods, i drop ball at 120ft, rist clip about 1ft above ball, line 10ft behind. second clip on same ball 10 ft higher at 110ft. then set other rigger at 100ft ball with clip about ft above. then second clip on second rigger 10 ft above that say90 ft ect.hope this helps. but honestly anyone out there fishing on channel 68 will say fish on, or if caught will say one in the box, then desribe depths of water and how deep on the wire and type of rig used. gives you ideas, i troll at 3mph. no more maybe 2.5 mph at times.

morro is fine, port san luius dont allow it. they do have limited parking on street and ect. i always go to morro for that reason. to sleep in truc k, on boat or anchor in bay. you can also rent bouys in psl or anchor up by boats.

Made it out today. Conditions started off nice then about 9 the wind picked up a bit then calmed down enough to loose the white caps. Finally about 10 we boated our first salmon, caught the third fish before 11. Then the wind started picking up again and caught 4th fish 11:15. 190-200 foot of water 170-180 on the wire. Fbr bait for all fish.
