My buddy has a 8.5' 670 no sticker just what rod builder put on the blank. Really heavy walled like a 50#-60#, can't find any info on it.

Sabre made a 670-9 for sure, and while I never actually saw what would be a 670H-9, it's entirely possible they made one.

I think you are talking about the s-glass series Sabre CALIFORNIAN

here is a 12-footer SURFER I picked up last summer, in excellent condition ...

They for sure made a 670-9 there was one posted a while back that was black with a label. I’m sure they’re out there. 670h-9 would be an animal of a rod!

Here are a couple pic, the blank is 104 3/16" long. Seems like a weird length if it was a 9' cut down.

Don't assume what somebody hand wrote on a blank makes it what they wrote on it.I'd say it is a Sabre and is probably a 670.Back then there weren't 15 didn't versions of the same blank with a complicated numbering/lettering system.I have an original old 670 8' Sabre. The label said "Sabre SC 670 8' " I believe the "SC" stands for Sabre Classic.A lot of Sabre's with a "C" were chocolate colored. This one is honey colored.

Maybe it wasn’t cut but the tip broke somehow. Never know

The original mandrel is used so everything above is the same on the inside diameter, just extended. I got to choose from the first lot made and picked the heartiest one in the lot at California Tackle.

But why would you cut it down 3 3/4 inches. I just don't see the benefit. Seems weird to me. Its labeled 8'6 but it 2 1/4 inches over that
3 and 3/4" inches is about the distance from the tip to the first guide on most rods.As somebody else said, maybe it broke at the first guide ? Or it broke at the tip and somebody went ahead and cut it at the first guide to put a new tip on there and avoid any thread work in the repair.

The tip won't go through the 10 hole, could be glue left over from removing the old tip. 11 hole slides down about 1/2 inch. Its a heavy blank at least 50#
