A lot of you BDers know me from doing all kinds of fishing. Tuna offshore from San Diego lobsters right in San Diego harbor and been catching quite a few Halibuts out of Homer for many years.
I fish mostly in Cook Inlet usually with many other charter boats around.
I know the tide current and also where the spots are.
Well, I’ve started a Halibut charter.
Billys Alaska Fishing Adventure
Fully licensed with DAF&G and have the federal halibut permit.
Went out about 10 times this month and have limited every time for 3-5 people each time.
I believe you would agree that I provide very good service.
I run a 6-pack and will go with as few as 4 people.
Rate is $249 for adult for full day of halibut fishing. Children under 14 is $179.
10% off for group of 5 or more
Please call or text and I can help plan your Alaska trip also.
Call for an exciting Halibut trip

A few of you had messaged me that for many BDers who’re flying into Homer, it’s not often that it’s more than a group of 2. So I would run with as few as 2. It would be a very private and cozy trip.
I’m also lowering the rate for the BD brothers, and sisters.
Here’s the new rate:

Full day 6 pack charter fishing out of Homer Harbor fishing in Cook Inlet
$199/adult for party of 5-6
$229/adult for party of 4
$249/adult for 3
$299/adult for party of 2
Children under 14 is $149 instead of the adult price.
if it ends up more than a group, you’ll share the lowest price. I just want to fill the boat as much as possible

New and more liberal regulations from Dept of Alaska fish and game this year make it more fun.
Smaller halibut is under 32”. It was 28” last year.
I Fish 25-45 miles out into the inlet depending on condition and tide, and usually where many of the other charter boats are.
When the condition is good, I’ll run to Elizabeth island that’s about 45 miles. In addition to halibut, we can jig for Lings, yellow eye, reds, black cod and bass.
40 miles by the volcano middle of the inlet is mostly halibuts.
I usually leave at 6:30 am and done by before 3 pm. Departure time is flexible for a private group.
Had a very nice way to celebrate the Fourth yesterday by a couple limiting for 2 by 10:20 am. Releasing 3 non keeper
I have all the rods and tackle.
I use both cured and frozen herring for bait
I can filet all the catch also and have a lot of room in my 2 freezers.
hopefully, you can fly out with a 50# box of fish as extra luggage

that some good pricing there bud. We dont go as far out since we got a 1 year old. we have been staying in closer. We did alright on halibut this weekend and got 24 reds snagging across from homer. Furthest south i have been is port graham. I want to get down to elizabeth area but the seas have to be perfect in my 22' raider profish. We were out infront of port graham a few years ago and ran into some 4' standing waves from the tide running so hard. Can get kind scary out that way.

Thanks, I didn’t think you could, regs are kinda hard to keep up with. Especially for a newbie. I do have a release device.

Are you renting a boat for the day? those rock fish can be hard to identify some times, one thing to remember is if you catch one and its not listed as pelagic then it is non pelagic and has to go back.

Yeah,
A couple of days self guided then 2 days with a guide. I’ll probably just keep the Black Rockfish, Ling Cod and Halibut to be safe.

Well. There goes the ‘Sockeyes snagging in the lagoon’ surprise.
Yeah, if high tide is early morning or late afternoon, I would surprise my clients/guests by taking them into the lagoon for the thrill of a lifetime to snag Sockeyes. it would be before or after halibuts.
It’s only about 10-14 days each year when that’s possibly, late June to mid July.
Went in yesterday with a friend privately and got our limits of 6 each.

Very Cool Billy, I always enjoyed your reports and advice, I hope it works out well for you! Summers in Alaska, then get back to SD once the snow falls.

True about Elizabeth. That area could be tough to navigate. The strong current and numerous different rips tides make it very challenging. Need to know your boat well and the area and on better days to go there.

Thanks. You’re welcomed.
Yes. Spiny lobsters and big blue fin again in San Diego. Most exciting type of fishing in the world.

we normally do well around 4th of july by mid july we normally are just snagging pinks and hard to find a red. Normally keep a few pinks for barn door bait.

Let your treble hook sink more before you snag. Reds usually stays lower than pink

My skirted hooks are very pretty and very deadly.
