Fished with my buddy's Kendell and Carl on Kendell's boat Gus's Pride. After finding nothing inside the local banks we headed to the 209 area, about 3 miles from the high spot we see 4 boats hauling ass right at us, wtf? Then we see Blue fin, the big boy's blowing up right in fount of us, game on.

Over the next two hours it was pure mayhem, the fleet of boats built up to around 10 boats chasing foamer's of bruiser blue fin, with the Chubasco 2 and Seasons big boat joining in on the fun. Saw Jamie on the Season get hooked up tossing an Iron into a foamer. Later heard he later got absolutely smoked. Saw the Chub hook two fish, one a bait fish and watched the Captain hook one' using the long rod from the upper deck. Don't think they got their fish, as they were in the chase again.

At one point with fish busting all around us, I see this slack line ripping across the surface, wrapping around the boat. Line comes out of the water and wraps around Carl's neck and the transom rod holders, fish rips a rod off the rod holder and smashes me in the face, knocking my glasses off my face. LOL The BFT had the rod pinned to me and fish was still pulling. I lifted the line over my head and I was free. Holly Shit.

I see Seasons coming around our port side, trying to unwrap us. At this point the line was up in the antenna and rocket launchers. Carl and Kendell were trying to save their fish, but fish won.
It was incredible how fast that fish was moving. We really felt bad that Jamie's passenger lost that fish. Shit happens, and with fish that big and fast, I now know anything can happen.

Here is a grainy cell phone video I took during the chase.

Carl how are you feeling today, are you over it yet... LOL

We never got a bite, but wow too much fun..

Huh? What? Slack line from where that involved your boat?

I must have missed something, but sounds downright dangerous.

Wrapped around Carls neck? How does that happen?

    Thanks for the report though.

We have no idea how that happened. After the dust settled, we were talking to Jamie of Seasons (we were port to port at that point) and he had no idea ether.
I think the fish ran straight out 200 feet and charged around us, it was crazy to see that lope line come up and around us like that.

    Ok - I think I got it....

You wrapped some 80 lb. around Carl's neck because he was slacking-off.
    - He rips a fish fart that knocked a rod out of the holder hitting you in the glasses.

You lifted your head over the line to get some fresh air and you were Free.

Sheeesh))) you can't take him anywhere.

I'm still not over it Simon.

I relived what we experienced with Jamie and Pablo tonight. We all agreed we've never experienced anything like that and probably never will again.. ..That adds up to quite a few man days on the water.
I was struck that in separate conversations with those guys that we all said that we felt "changed" by the experience.

They explained what happened with the boat wrapping.
It boiled down to a newb passenger not realizing what was happening as a very large, very fast fish ate the bait and hauled ass on the surface in a circle around us and back under them in a few seconds. Naturally it occurred when the guys were distracted for a few seconds with other goings on.
Pablo told me it was a Talica 8 that was almost spooled when he got to it. It was to the knot when we came together to try and unfuck it. The fish was somewhere about 600yds on the opposite side of their boat by then,..

As freakish as that was it kind of got lost in the amazing things we saw.
