Congrats on another great trip Billy, this has been an amazing season. I think after this front comes through the bite will be done "Fat Lady Has Sung". With the seiners on the bank wrapping the squid the Bluefin will split and we will have to go back to our normal fishing lives. Time to bust out the lead and fish for the bottom critters and cross our fingers for the seabass to show up to the BIGHT zones early. Hopefully in 2017 they show back up again, this time they will not be far down south at the Finger Bank but on the Squid beds.

I cant wait for your season ending report with all of your old pics for the year, you probably have landed more Bluefin on your rig than most of the SD Charters this year.

Thank you so much for the kind words. It has truly been an amazing year. I think youre right…things are slowly declining out there. Im sure a few will always be around but tough to make the run for smaller fish. We are so spoiled.

My end of year video will be insane…. but of course…before that video will be about 5-8 videos of some other trips.

Finally have some down time and editing as we speak.

    Ali, Brett…

You are absolutely right. It was definitely a trip pushing the limits.

I was watching the weather a week out and my texas friends pulled the trigger on hotel and airfare.

I watched it every 3 hours. It was forecasted less than 5 knots….but then as days came closer, weather was building.

We were planning on fishing the bank on Thursday in which we did. Friends fly in on Tuesday. No joke, i called them on Monday to cancel. Weather was showing constant 15 knots of wind and thats too much for my boat wayyyyy out there.

They said they wouldnt mind even doing local stuff but i just didnt want them to fly all the way over here and disappoint.

Day before trip, weather subdued to 12-13 knots at night and showed diminishing to 10 knots throughout the day which i felt was manageable.

10 miles upon arrival of Tanner, weather just kept getting worse. Reached the banks with high winds and white caps…. Very uncomfortable and pushing limits for sure.

Probably wont do it again with those conditions….but was just making the run off of weather reports.

    Pushing the limits for sure…..

All us private boaters have pushed their limits. I always say NOAA is mostly wrong just never know on the plus or minus side of wind.

But you made it! And back! For the last few years I have fished Tanner (on a bigger boat) in January for bft. I think the ones that got away last year from me came back to kick my ass. Some did!

I hope , but dont feel as confident saying I'll be fishing Blue Fin this January though.

As for you this year....I know you got a few that I released last year! haha Good job!

Billy you know the limits of your boat, nice to read your reports and see your pics. You definitely got your rig dialed in. I'm glad to know the BFT are still around.

How long is your boat? I have a 285 conquest whaler and I am planning a trip to tanner. Fuel might be my problem I have the twin 250's and she gets thirsty! I would be going out of Newport.
