I need some rod recommendations for my Komodo SS463P reel. Nearly all of my fishing will be on party boats in the Gulf of Mexico. In general, I see the reel as 30 lb. and used for fishing with bait, casting Halco Max 130 lures, and maybe some vertical jig fishing. I prefer rods with reel seats. Thanks in advance for your input.

You might want to consider a Phenix Abyss 808 or 809 for 30lb. Nice rods, reasonably priced and they have reel seats.

I had the monster custom wrapped with reel seat. Had it on a phenix rod before with the tiburon lexa clamp, but it felt really unbalanced. Feels a lot better on the us85monster. I fish it with 50lb spectra with a short 40lb top shot.

Been fishing my 463 on a UC Swimfinatic 711H for the past two seasons. Also have a 471 on a UC Swimfinatic 711MH. No complaints other then the crappy knuckle busting handles on the reels. Easy swap out.

SCTi 8’6” XH is sweet rod for KOMODO....I had it for 2 seasons and a tested a YellowTail Slayer and fun for schoolie tunas...but for Technology & Money Nobody beats PCH 801MH 15-40lb for $140sh if on sale! If money is not a problem go with the United Composite...

Have two UC Fanatic 711H..one on the Komodo and the other 400HG. I fish these two rods 90% of the time. Great rods with plenty of YFT and YT caught between the two.

I have the Komdo 471P. I have a seeker black steel 7' 30# rod I was thinking about putting it on. Was also looking at the SCTI XH 8'6". My question is, trigger or no trigger on the reel seat? I've done tons of freshwater bass fishing using bait casters and always had a trigger on the seat. Does it matter or is it personal preference? I've never used a bait caster in the salt.

Trigger seat is the way to go with these reels. I have my 463 on a Okuma Guide Select heavy swimbait rod and it is about as close to a do everything set up as you are likely to find. Oh yeah to finish it off properly fit a Cortez 10 handle on it.

I have my 400 on a SCT-801H-CG. I really like the carbon fiber grips, and combined with UFR tips can really pull hard. 50# MC to short floro leaders works for me. I did need the durans clamp it feels great but doesn't really match the reel perfectly. The clamp is a little to wide.
