Looking for some advice on a rod to pair up with my new reel. I plan to fish 50-60lb live bait, flat falls, yo-yo for tuna.

Calstar or Seeker preferred.

thanks in advance!

I’m a Seeker guy myself. I tend to fish my 40N’s on a G6470H (7’) and a SS CJBF80XH(8’ 6480XH is finished rod). Both are rated 40-60, are great sticks, and you can really PULL on them. The 80XH is probably a better bait stick but both would suffice for all jobs If you look into UC check out the 8’ Predator as well as RCE700XXH. I own all 4 rods and take them all with me to Baja regularly

I matched mine up with a Rainshadow RCJB84XXH. I have 500 yards of 80# braid and do fluoro topshots 60 and 80#. Worked on a decent one (75-80ish) on my last trip.

The Shogun has Penn Fathom 40's matched with SuperSeeker 6470H's for their boat rods. They have landed a lot of Guadalupe YFT up to 100lbs and more. You could also go with a Seeker blacksteel 6470H or a Calstar Grafighter 700xh if you want a 7' rod or grab a Seeker SSR 7650 or 7660 if you want a 7 1/2 ft rod. If you move up to an 8' rod I would look at a SuperSeeker 80H or 80XH. There are a ton of good rods out there that would work. It just depends on which length and action you prefer.

Maybe the Rainshadow RCJB84xh would be perfect. 50 is about the sweet spot on that one I would guess and you could probably do 60. Charkbait has one all wrapped up in a basic style with quality components and construction. That is one of the rods I am looking at for a new 50# rig along with a number of UC rods on the upper end and maybe Daiwa Proteus/Okuma on the budget end. You have a lot of options that's for sure.
