Fished the rock pile today for a bunch of bonita and 2 bluefin pushing 30lbs. All on flylined deans. Then hit the 425 for 7 yellowtail about 8lbs ea. all on kelps. Great day on the water!

Thanks guys for your repsonses. After fishing dow here for 10 years this was my first personal bluefin!
Sorry for the short report, I posted from my cell phone on our way back in after 18 hours on the boat with no sleep. Fished with one of the other Corey's from here and my girlfriend. this was the first trip in along time that I had the hot hand, hence only me in the pics :-). We caught all fish using the report and recommendation of fish dope. You could see the bait being pushed around at the edge of the reef so after a short drift with a couple of bonita and pulled hooks, one of which was most likely the right kind we anchored up on the north side of the reef which was the leading edge of the current. it was a steady pick for about 5 hours with a few light line break offs and pulled hooks but landed probably 15 fish.

Then based on the intel, we headed to the numbers south of the 425. hit a few small kelps for 2 YT at about 5lbs, then found a huge patty north of the 425 that was non stop for two drifts on bait and iron.

We picked up two scoops of killer deans, probably the hottest baits we have ever used and that really helped, also made up for the cranky bait guys at 4am after DST adjustment.

Great day on the water. Here's a few more pics for your enjoyment:

Thanks. The second bluefin pulled really hard compared to the first one but he did have some seal teeth marks on him so that could be why. :-) The rod is 50lb Chaos bait rod and that fish really loaded it up, I'm surprised the 25lb flouro leader held.
