Took my Triumph 195CC out yesterday Thursday 4/23 to the rock pile and Coronado islands. Weather was great and ocean was super calm but had some decent 2-3+ swells. Went to the rock pile first. Caught a barracuda on a red yo yo iron. Couldn’t get anything else to bite. Water temp was 56-57 degrees greenish blue with some brown spots mixed in. Headed north to the islands. Water quality was shit. Possible red tide? Water temp was 60-61 degrees. Caught a bonito off the North point of north island. Spotted red crab in the water so I used my JRI Stinger in red to yo yo. On one of my retrieves a good size YT followed it up to the surface but didn’t bite. I knew they were down there after that and I ept dropping the yo yo and at around 12:15 landed a YT. Worked hard for it but got one.

Thanks for the report. Let’s hope that water gets better, it looks foul.

Appreciate the report. Water in your pic's looks really bad. Was wondering if the red tide was all the way to the Coronado's. Good work getting one.

Excellent job! Good for you testing the system. Nothing wrong with that. That water does look nasty. Thanks for the report.

Water is pretty bad starting from about 2 miles south of the whistler buoy all the way to the islands and south a few miles. Rock Pile had cleaner water but still a little green. Hoping it clears up by next Wednesday so I can get out again.

Nice work Colin! Poopy water usually is tough to produce, but you persevered!
Thanks. Found a couple breaks in the shit water which allowed the fish to see the iron better. Wish the first YT bit because he was definitely larger than the one I landed.

That water does look horrible.
Lots of algae for the zooplankton to eat, more zooplankton for the anchovies to eat, and a healthy future bait cycle though. It is a restart of a food chain. (The red tide algae feeds the zooplankton) Marine Biology 101
