Left MB at 6am with a scoop of tiny 'chovies. Stopped on a kelp outside the jetty for 3 macks. Then worked my way out to the corner. Furthers west and south I went, the warmer the water got (70deg). Very few birds, paddies, no ponies. Finally found one 25lb bluefin who wanted to die. Bit a blue& chrome Halco 130. Started slow trolling the area with the macks 150 yds back. First one got hit within 10 minutes but I couldn't get any to stick. In retrospect I should have used bigger hooks (3 or 4/0).
Back I the slip by 5pm.

Thx for the report. The bft are very particular, so maybe you would have got no strike at all with a bigger hook? Next time is your time.

I've been trying for a bluefin for three years. Happy to get one finally. Fish were down about 40'. All the patties were dry and didn't see a boil all day.
