Reel for Calstar 700H??

Is the Torque 40N a good match for this rod or overkill for this rod?
Also, is the sweet spot for this rod 40lb or 50lb?
Plan is to mainly fish 50lb live bait/yoyo application.

I’d say a 40N is overkill. 700H seems like a 40lb rod. 25N or 30 would be a better fit—either 2-speed or star drag depending on application.

I’d stick a 40 on it and fish 50 and 60 heck Mike on the Vagabond fishes 80 on that rod with a fathom 40.

25N may be better suited, but that rod can easilyyy fish 60.

I have 2 as well as 2 700xh’s. The 700H can fish 50lb easy. A Fathom 30ld2 would be a great reel or a Torque 30ld2 for a few more bucks.
