Reel foot doesn’t fit aluminum reel seat

I just got a UC Elite Composite 7’ xxh with aluminum reel seat at the show.

My reels don’t fit nicely in the aluminum seat. (Alijos 12 and Speedmaster 12). They fit but not all the way in and a touch wobbly. The alps aluminum seat seems to fit my small baitcasters better for some reason.

What have some of you done to make it fit better or make it work out? Duct tape, electrical tape, something else?

Thanks!

Small amount of athletic cloth tape wrapped around each foot. Doesn't take much. Some Alps reel seats #18 and smaller have cushioned hoods, hence the better fit. Personally I don't think clamps are needed on sticks 50 lb and under. As long as you have a quality graphite/aluminum reel seat and tighten the hood correctly...

I have an Accurate Tern that didn’t fit one of my reel seats the same way and I added a little piece of 1/16” self adhesive cork backing to it (cut to follow the size of the reel seat) and it made a nice snug fit. edit: Added a photo.

If my reel foot is too small for the reel seat hood, I use a rubber o-ring from plumbing supply or home depot about 1" diameter(you can get thin ones or thicker ones). Then lay the far end of the o-ring flat(parallel) in front of the end of the reel foot(sort of around it's perimeter) and tighten it into the reel seat hood. The rest of the o-ring that is not under the hood can go over or under the reel foot depending on the reel foot style. It is non-corrosive, waterproof, and really locks down and centers my reels, and comes apart easily when I loosen the reel seat. If you leave the o-ring whole you can pull it out from under the reel seat hood easily when you take your reel off.
