    ideally you don't fish irons on the same rod you fish stickbaits. rods for throwing irons should be parabolic for castability and feeling your jig swim. Rods for stickbaits should be faster action, ideally extra fast, because you want a stiff tip to give proper action to the stickbait. whether its a jerkbait, popper, or swimbait, you want a stiff tip so you get the maximum action for the least amount of effort.
