    Brothers,

Would like to ask if anyone has any recommendations for a lodge in either Canada or Alaska for a multiday (perhaps 5 day?) fishing trip? Friend and I are looking at going on a fishing trip together next year.

Would like to go after multiple species; king salmon being the primary target and other bottom fish being secondary. Not really interested in river fishing...would rather go out in the ocean.

I'd also be very interested to hear if anyone has entered the Hippa Island salmon tourney.

    Regards,
    Eric

Winter harbour offers great fishing and beautiful scenery. There are lodges available and I recommend Olies. It is located at the northern end of Vancouver Island.

Nootka Sound Adventures/ moutcha Bay Resort on the west coast of BC. They run charter service or you can bring your own boat.
    Or
Horizon West in Sitka. This would be my 1st choice...

I have fished with both and did very well. I would supect that you will hit your possession limit before 5 days.

I think Sitka is the fishiest place I've been for multi-species. Early July is a good time. Numerous lodge/guide options

Not to hijack the thread, but, how is the crabbing in nootka sound? There are no crab in or around winter harbor that I know of. Apparently the sea otters wiped them out.

    Hey Eric,
I just returned from Hippa Island with WestCoast Resorts last week and the average size of the chinook was the best I've seen all season which includes a month in Sitka, a trip to Englefield in June and a couple mid-August shots at Buoy 10.

Rob Endsley of Prince of Wales Sportsfishing has Craig, AK wired but as Jay "Reverend Captain" Fields mentioned, book now.

If it's the west side of Queen Charlottes, now referred to as Haida Gwaii you're considering, my highest recommendation goes to WestCoastResorts.com

There's lots of great locations and operations on this thread but none I would agree more with than my friend Derek Floyd and his excellent operation ReelClassCharters.com

Good luck and see you on the water, T

Thanks for all the responses thus far.

I am open to any time of the year. I guess my first priority would be catching quality kings. I had a friend go to Sitka and while he brought a lot of fish home, all the kings but one were teeners. Not really what I am looking for.

Second priority would be filling the freezer. We used to go to Neah every year for our meat run but we're looking to change things up. Would like a variety...salmon, white meat.

Five star accommodation, gourmet meals, massages, chocolates on my pillow...meh...would rather not pay higher package prices for that.

Short of going to Chile...who's got the best chance at a 40+ lb king and when?

    Hi Tom,

Spent two weeks in Craig and two weeks in Sitka. Caught lots of fish, but prefer Craig for the fishing and the sleeply SE AK vibe.

    Each destination has it's plus/minuses.

    Eric,

You can get into a 40# plus about anywhere I suppose ... right place/right time sorta thing. I suspect that your best chance might be Rivers Inlet in early August.
