Relatively newer fisherman here looking to see what folks have been pulling in the past 2 weeks or so. Reports look like they are trending better every day out of San Diego but was curious what folks are seeing who may be out on a boat not reporting totals/private charter.

Also, any gear recommendations based on what you are seeing out there? I am heading out in the next few days fishing tuna, YT, and anything else we can get our hands on.

I am likely going to rent a reel (haven't gone enough to justify buying my own) but was curious on rigging and whether jigs or live bait have been doing better overall.

when you say, "rent a reel" do you mean for large BFT? that would be the only reel worth renting and not buying. Other than that, you can buy a daiwa sl20sh for like $80 or less and it will catch pretty much everything except the aforementioned tuna
