Short Report: 8:00 start Fished within a mile from harbor Targeted Bass with plastic. Caught about 25 mixed, 75% Calico’s. Only 5 keepers, kept 1 for tacos. Water 55.8, clear green. Wind/breeze 3 different directions throughout the excursion, about 6 knots. I have no idea about current due to breeze, nothing significant. Back in the barn by 1:00. Details: Another Gentleman’s start 8:00 am. I was going to go to church, however the clocks turned ahead and I was late so I went fishing, doesn’t require a shower and the SLIDER is always ready. “Worship on the water?” Meet a fellow BDer at the dock, nice guy who’s OP name is Flytie. Had a real nice CC and a beautiful wife he was going to fish with. My plan was to keep active and fish baitcasters in 40-60 ft. Flytie was going to drift for the Gold and maybe fish Reds. I hope you did well my friend. Wind blew offshore to start, changed to the side, south, then turned west. It was really hard to figure out where to set in order to drift across the structure. Soon as I got dialed in, the wind changed. Lots of rat Calicos. They bit like Mackerel. Insanely long runs, then drop it, then pick it up again, then drop it. I brought in so many plastics with the tails missing. After a while I just let them run a long while and eliminated the short bites. Very strange for this spot. I think there was a cloud of rats right above the kelp that was not allowing me to get to the bigger boys. I robbed a day in between the storms and wind so I am blessed. Here’s a couple of pictures of how it looked out there today. Get out there soon!
