Had a great day at Lapush 3 weeks ago with Carrie's bait boy. One of the "black bastards" stuck me on the upper nail/skin connection (not sure what you call it)....3 weeks this area was painful/infected...thought is was just the venom. Yesterday at Westport, I feels a sting in the finger & here is a quill/dagger sticking out from my nail...damn, no wonder my finger was bothered! Guess the black bastard got the last laugh... (even though I ate him last week!) Quill.jpg

I usually fillet them when they are dead, and not flopping around. I am careful (and all should be) when they are flopping around. There is a reason they have those quills.....stay away from flopping quills....

While still on the hook, the receive the priest. STILL the bastards get us sometimes. But better when they are whacked.

I had a vermillion stab me about 5 years ago. I think it went clean to the bone in my finger. Pain was serious. I persisted for almost 2 months.

When you get stuck by a quill from a rockfish..stab their eye and rub that liquid on the wound, you will be suprised what it will do to deaden the pain fairly quickly.

Peeing on the stab works to cure the pain as well... but I suspect if the quill is stuck in there, nothing will help until you get that fucker outta there.

I started bringing some old oxo kitchen shears aboard and clipping the dorsal and anal fins post-priest. No more stab wounds

On my honeymoon we tipped over a small sail boat. My wife and i were standing barefoot on Sea urchins. I sware they are still stuck in my feet 17 years later.

Pissing on our feet was the medical advise we were given in Jamaica. I had to drink a ton of red stripe to get the job done. Not sure if it was the red stripe or the piss, but I felt better after.
    Cheers
