Just found out I am coming out to Hawaii next week :)

I have never been there but plan on doing some fishing. I want to do 2 - 3 trips depending on prices. I notice there are a bunch of charter companies people have already recommended. Is it worth waiting till you get there to book a trip or should I book them right now?

Also, is there any inland fishing we could do on our own that wouldn't cost us other then a license and some bait? Any website referrals?

Any help would be much appreciated!!

if you have more than a week here wait to book your charter. as far as the fresh water fishing goes, theres a number of old reservoirs that have Bass and tuccanare in them. I not sure which ones are open for fishing anymore I think the state office where you get your liscense will be able to tell which ones are tho.

Kauai can be great. The nice thing there is the grounds are close. Nawiliwili is a good spot to fish from. When you arrive go check out the harbor and talk to the guys. Biggest concern there is sea conditions, it can be rough, again talk to the guys and pick your best day. Tightlines Deliman

    Startup,
That is what my plans were but I didn't want to wait to the last minute to find out all the charters are full. I really don't want to miss out on this opportunity.

The seas don't bother me! My partner on the other hand, I don't know about. He can chum all he wants though :p

Thanks for the advice so far!!

Now you tell me. All I saw when I went out was blue sky or blue water. Straight up Victory at Sea stuff.

Be sure to drop by this place:

    Kauai Malasadas - Lihue, HI

and if you want a killer plate lunch check this place out:

    Fish Express - Lihue, HI

If they have any Kiawe Smoked Marlin get a couple of sticks. Ahhhh... now I'm making myself hungry.

Hey, while you're there could you look for our pet chicken?
