Hey Dale. I guide part time in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area. Have been fishing down here all of my life and I agree that the keys are a world class fishery, but this time of year the average fish where I fish are 60-80lbs. Not too shabby in any book!
If you are willing to drive 20 minutes south. I would recommend fishing with captain Joe Gonzalez of funny bone charters. http://captainjoegonzalez.com/
Joe is an amazing guide. He will definitley put you on the fish whether it be Tarpon, Bonefish, or Permit. As a matter of fact he has tagged over 1,000 bonefish for the University of Miami's Bonefish and Tarpon Research Center. (www.bonefishresearch.com)
