3.5 day Marla IV 38' blackfin Capt Alonzo, Roberto (brothers of Danny and Scotty Osuna) Antonio(Gordo) and Ephraim. Came with 3 friends 1st time on marla, 1st long range trip. Alonzo already had bout 100 cabalitos in the docks bait cage seasoned. I brought 11 of the 1.5-2 ft candies but unnecessary. Drove 10hrs (90miles) to the gap between Maria Madre and Maria Magdalena. Set up drift between 7am and noon. 8 yft. Smaller ones flylined cabies 60-90lb and 3 ballon fish 130 to 160lb. We left had lunch went up maria madre set drift lotsa wind now in afternoon. Balloon fish 268lb bout 10min fight. Set balloons out after a few hrs 173lber hits the deck by Chris the magic man on my 6463 4x and gold mak 50(130lb TL, 200lb double trouble cabbies) By now we already had 520lbs of pure fillets already out of 9 tunas. Maxing out freezer, ice and cooler already. Kept the belly off my 268 and made sashimi that night next day made poke with avocado. We had so much fish already (also crew was tired of cuttin, we all helped vac pack) Alonzo asked us if we can trade for 2 a piece(16) lobsters 3 bags of ice with the local panga divers we all agreed. Now thats fishing! Help out the locals too. 2nd day back to the cap now pulled in 4 tunas 60-80 then went cow hunting. We troll for 3-5lb skippys then use them as bait. Charter master Matt is next up he takes port outrigger set Jason gets starboard and downrigger. I gave up my rotation for rest of trip. Port side (Matt) goes off i filmed it 7min fight to gaff look bigger than mine bigger pull on rod at 40lbs of drag same setup i used on my 268. Roberto gaffs the head pulls it towards the boat gaff hook breaks then line is now under boat with tons of pressure 100lb JB which is old breaks (i checked it later 50lb BS). Catch and Release!!! Exactly what we needed! I was super proud of matt how much pressure at the right time while adjusting for the squirly tuna bout 5 times, railing that baby on the slippery stern rail. Now thats putting the wood to the fish! Matt and me paracorded that corner after that! Federalies were coming so we left towards port. Went fishin for rockfish but not much luck do to heavy wind. 3rd day all trophy hunting picked up skippys and trolled one 80lber comes up. Thats not a cow. Alonzo friend stays in gap all day we left for cow country. Few short shark bites is all we got. Head for the barn. Alonzo's friend reports he got 6 fish 80-140 which didnt matter to us cause we went trophy hunting, already maxed on meat and space/ice. 10hr ride home 430am 599.5 lbs of pure filet for 4 guys (350lbs of whole tuna rockfish skippies etc given to the community). Epic trip hats off to Marla IV Danny Scotty Alonzo Roberto Antonio and Ephraim. Chris Jason and Matt "NO TUNA, NO CHINGAS!"

(oh yeah thats me drowing in paradise cove, #dumbass)

Thats an awesome report! One question though. The terrafin for that area looks green. How was water visibility? I am a diver and am planning to run out there next week when weather window opens up!

Sorry for late response. Man its funny how tired u get once home... The guys who traded us the lobsters they dove for those(in the dark) and also spearfish and longline. We jumped in one of the coves off isla magdalena water was crystal clear. Greenish tint but clear nonetheless. Gorgeous place. It does get windy and ruff in the afternoon though.

Posting soon, but just got off Marla 4 on a 2 1/2 day trip, 2 guys, me and my son; got 8 tuna 90 to 331 and a 275; 5 fish were on a very lucky uc viper with 100 pound sun line leader; atd30 got trashed by the 331 but got the fish because of good crew work.
