What's important in your life? I was deeply involved in prepping Kodak for Tuna, Weather, tides, SST all looked good for next week.
Judy has been coughing a lot- to the point of ' must you do that so much?" Tuesday night she had a panic attack from not getting her breath- PulsOx was low 80% even using the little Boost oxygen bottle we have, home test for Covid negtive, so off the the ER we go getting there a little before midnight. They put her on supplemental O2 and finished the inprocessing and we went into wait mode. The ER DR said she needed an XRay with contrast even though Judy has an iodine allergy- the need was greater than the risk he ephasized.
Xray showed 22 blood clots in her lungs.
So, into wait mode again as the DR she needed was booked and the night shift Dr was due in after 6 PM. I left at 4 to feed the pets and he came in to interview Judy while I was gone. Two critical cases came in so she didn't go in until 11 PM. They inserted a line thru the femoral artery up into both pulmonary arteries to infuse heparin to disolve the clots. Her Pulsox was 98 after the procedure so improvement was quick.
Judy had knee surgery several months ago and tests showed multiple DVT clots in her leg that would be a continuing problem to reach the lungs again and possibly fatal if it caused the heart to fail.
Home for now (Thursday) . Waiting to get seen by the leg vascular surgeon and I'll push her to keep moving and walking more.
Hopefully some will heed the warning to prevent blood clots by following medical advice-- Keep 'em moving
And I can prioritize Tuna soon. , Watching for Tuna trip stories
