Loaded up last Friday night and only 22 of us had signed up for the trip which is the first time I've been on the Pacific Queen with such a light load. Gavin gave us the game plan of looking for yellowtail for a bit and then switching over to rockfish if they weren't biting. We stopped multiple times on small schools and I was able to get 3 yellows on the yoyo before we switched to drifting for rockfish. Yellowtail were in the 15-25 lb range. I'm pretty sure everyone had easy limits on rockfish (mainly good sized reds) after a couple hours. We finished the day looking for more yellows and I was able to get 1 more on the yoyo. The boat finished with 30 yellows for the day. Also it was all you wanted bonito but I threw all but one of mine back which I turned into some delicious poke. All in all it was a great day of fishing, the crew was excellent, Johnny in the galley cooked up some great food, and everyone on board was in a good mood and we worked with each other to reduce tangles. Get out there and go fishing!

Great report. There's not many things better than feeling the rod load up on the yoyo.

I used the JRI 66 in red. The heavier irons were getting bit better probably just because they were in the zone faster than the lighter ones.
