One of my favorite days last year. We were trolling in shallow along Pt Reyes without a boat in sight. We released 3 8-12lb salmon in hopes for a monster and picked up 6 halibut to 36”. With the halibut population exploding here around SF Bay I’m excited for more days like this!

On the rocks south of Carmel

That's my British son in law, with his first Cabezon, hell, his first fish. Also got rubberlips and a chucklehead. And he learned to tie his own uni knot. Now he wants to talk tuna out of San Diego.

I'm thinking maybe his relationship with my daughter can be saved.

Geez you guys, take it easy on the sashimi!
The gaff goes in the gill plates, secondary opposite side, assist, at the tail.
Every Gaff hole in the loin takes the price down.
This pic was probably from the 80s on a single speed when getting a fish of this size was unheard of so when you have a chance to throw a gaff in it you stick it as many times as possible to bring it aboard

The fish pictured is in a net, probably dead on arrival!
I may have screwed up, I was referring to the fish in post #12
