Thanks for all the suggestions, they are all really good. I already have a spot in mind to add another pump a little higher and it will be getting a alarm on board as well. Boat will not be on the water until all items are fixed.

The only citation (warning) was for missing two stickers. Garbage and pollution placard. I’m just glad I didn’t have to rely on the pump the coast guard brought on board since they couldn’t get the first one started.

I got an oil light flashing at me about 60 miles out while running. Stopped and pulled the cowlings to check on things. Immediately had two boats come over but they hit the gas as soon as they realized we had engine trouble and not a bait stop going! Fuckers.

Turned out to just be the 100hr service notification and no problems.

We were wrapping up, dumping bait with only a single fish in the hold, 60miles away and with 3 hours till closing time. That's when the USCG boarded us. Things were going smoothly, all safety gear in good order etc. Then Jason decides to gaff and throw on the deck our pet blue dog that was circling us picking up chum . Right in the middle of the damn coasties! Pandemonium ensues with the CG obviously never seen a circus like that.

Jason finally ends his rodeo, the coasties leave and we are under way with only 2.5 hours left. Oddball carried us back at 23 knots average speed in the jarring chop that was quite far from the forecast. We made it back to the finish line at 6pm sharp. Kids gathered around the boat to marvel at the blue dog. It was an amazing day. Thanks to the folks that organized it. Great job!

It's worth mentioning that the blue shark weighed 54 plus pounds on the WTC scale, which is five pounds bigger than @blindpig 's state record of 49.10.

Jason is the Man he fishes all day. Last time he was on my boat we crossed the bar in the fog at night. He did sit up front with me on crab pot look out instead of taking the bean bag like the rest of the crew. He is always welcome on the Thunder Road.

That is too funny, did the coasties think it ironic that they were there to ensure you had all the mandatory safety equipment while Jason is wrestling with a 6 foot shark on the back deck.

I knew it wasn't going to hold up. Brought the bastard in more to keep her from stealing any more baits/hooks than anything and figured what the hell...got to go through olympia anyway. At least I held the dream for a season.:frehya2: Congrats to whomever holds the new record. Sure it won't last long either. I was told by the biologist they get to 12+feet and 400+ lbs. Not so sure I would bring that one on board...

Also, while I didn't get to eat this one I was told it tastes pretty much like Mako but it has a soft texture instead of firm which tends to turn many people off.
