Heading down to PV to fish with the Osuna brothers for a 2.75 day trip and thinking of bringing a spinning rod to cast poppers while offshore. Any recommendations on poppers or any other gear?

Roosters, pargo, dorado, jacks, tuna, really friggin’ big tuna....? What type of fishing are you doing? What kinda gear are you chucking it with? Find Chucho in PV and get yourself some cool souvenirs with some bite marks in them once you know what you’ll be targeting. His poppers are all hand carved in wood and the paint jobs are pretty tits. I believe Carlos also sells them at Vallarta Fishing Center in Marina Vallarta and maybe available at Curricanes.com in Nuevo. You can find him on Facebook or the beach too.

I’d throw a Halco Roosta or Heru Skipjack 60. They probably have some poppers on board. I’ve thrown what they had on the Marlas IV. One of my friends caught his first ever YFT throwing one of their poppers on one of their spinning rigs.

Historically, a cheap and productive lure has been the Roberts ranger lure in blue/white or blue/silver, but you’ll need to beef up the hook and split ring, say with an owner jobu 7/0.

Heru Skipjack all day long. Don’t waste your time with a Saragosa, I’ve seen too many fall apart. For fishing like the ones down there, even 80-100#...they need a Twin Power 14k minimum

you can't choose what eats your bait. I got spooled with a stella 20000, a 340 came out of that school, I saw the fish eat it, similar class to JJ's that was landed. A bait with a big splash, lots of noise, draws some awesome explosions !!
