We started the day with another great scoop of 4"-6" sardines. Great color and condition on the baits, 0 rolled on the scoop. Looked south first, 2'-3' WNW wind swell with 6-8 knots N wind, not bad considering how rough it was yesterday! The terns were working early and often, all we found on probably a dozen stops were porpise. The water was 59.5-60.5 and streaky cloudy green with a mix of clean green in 120-200. We swung north to La Jolla, in 300' of water, trolled rapallas and threw iron on birds the way up for nada. Hit the NW corner around 1130, lots of birds working, lots of birds, scattered more than last week but working big numbers of scattered bait. Water was clean green, 60.5-61.8, inside on the kelpline was all the pencil barries and good size mackeral you wanted. We bounced out to about 300' around 1 pm and hit a school of yellows bigger than anything I have seen this short La Jolla season, dont have a estimate of numbers, could have been 150 yards across, we tossed jigs and bait before they sunk out and shut us out. The water outside of 300' was trying to be blue, very close to perfect. The wind settled down around 3 and was whitecap free by 4, settled down nice all the way to sundown. We tried everything, slow trolled macks, sardines, rapallas, even tried a couple cedar plugs on some nice sized paddys outside, dropper loops, and threw iron on every bird school we could. We stayed strong until sunset but it just wasnt our day. We didnt see any fish caught but hopefully somebody got lucky.
Sorry for such a late report.........hitting it again in the AM.
The conditions should improve overnight and definately over the next 4-5 days. Lets hope thie bite picks up in the morning where it left of before the last blow.

    Go get em guys
    Good luck
    Be safe

I saw that the water stayed pretty good after the blow. The afternoon seems to be better than the am bite. And you are right when it busts it will be fun. A really nice report that you gave.
