Poaching??? Thats a pretty serious accusation to make. Then to post a pic of these guys and their boat for people to trash and pull up the registration info... wow!

Where is the pic of them with the pot being pulled, or even any of the lobster pot line up. If you thought those guys were poaching, you should have said something to them. Maybe educated them that its illegal to disturb the lobster pot and that good hard working men feed their family with that bouy.

Whats clear to me it that it was really windy that day and these old chaps have tied up to the pot. I know I'm new here, but the fishing community should try to give each other the benefit before posting something like this.

All good thoughts in theory. But on BD a picture is worth a thousand speculated scenarios not words. Most outlandish observations are only topped by another's very vivid imagination. Then again, it is winter.
    Welcome to BD.

the thing is people need to Know the Regulations, before fishing
on their own Boat, so they know What they can
    and Can't Do...................

What planet are you from ? If it's windy throw out a sea anchor or use your brain and drop anchor , the last time I checked lobster traps are not boat anchors and if they don't belong to you leave them the fuck alone , cut hole and insert brain

Well damn I wasted a few bucks on my second rod stamp then. Good to know there's no rod limit on the ocean. Thanks. <End hijack>

Better read the regulations very carefully especially if you troll for salmon on the north coast.

The regulation book is 112 pages, and it changes in 8 days. Better study hard!

In southern California, there is one important exception to keep in mind - each person can only have one line in the water, when there are rock fish, lingcod, or cabezon on the boat. In northern California there are more exceptions, better make sure you know them.
