Anyone know the identity if these individuals or location of this boat. Picture is from today, clearly showing them poaching lobster gear belonging to the Chelsea Marie from San Pedro. 12499.jpg

Looks more like they tied off to it to use as an anchor, but I was not there and unfortunately it is not uncommon for people to poach lobsters from peoples traps.

Nope, our buddy was watching them struggling to pull the trap then gassed in to take the picture.

Not surprising, but that is also why I do not always believe photos. They do not show what was happening before and after.

I don't know one way or another what happened, but looking at that picture sure doesn't "Clearly" show them poaching as stated.

Not taking sides at all, but my first thought would be what the other guy said, as it looks to me like they decided to use the float to tie off and fish from, and in order to do that they would have been pulling on the line which could look like they were pulling the trap.

They still shouldn't have used the trap line for an anchor line, but just looking at that pic, that's what it appears to me as what took place.

How about reporting them while you were next to them? Radio or cell?

Bottom line ,if it's not yours don't touch it ,them having the buoy line shows intent, my commerical lobster buddies are having a hard year ,it's there living ,it's personal property ,if I caught them in the act there would be three guys in the water

Stealing? Maybe they were, maybe they weren't. But it's illegal to disturb commercial lobster traps, either way. Trouble using this picture as evidence is that their boat or fishing line might have gotten into the trap line, and they could claim that they were trying to get it lose. I doubt you can make a case from this picture alone, but we'll see.

There's no limit to the rods allowed. If that were the case there are a lot of people who troll who'd be looking like poachers. Same goes for Ytail, Cbass, Halibut guys and more.

    Hello,

I suspect they are in the Pacific Ocean. Not a lake.
