Camped solo on the beach 3 days/2nights in SR and 4 days/3nights in SF. The desert was alive, the weather was great and so was the fishing.

Couldn't connect off the beach at SF cause the fish were either too far out or moving too fast for me but something big was feeding on the massive schools of baitfish near the shore. I did however find lots of pargo in the lagoon. No pics of the fish but here is the lagoon.

I found a nice reef just south of Punta San Francisquito. Caught tons of triggers, sardinera, sculpin and birrilette.

Drove in there through El Arco with my uncle (at night!) back in '92. Caught yellowtail and cabrilla from the beach in front of camp, didn't even need to launch the skiff. This was back when it was mostly a "fly in" destination. Drove out through LA bay which took 8 hours and 2 destroyed tires.......what an adventure.

I use to drive there about 20 years ago. Not an easy drive. I have taken both routes. It is easier through El Arco but it is further South. This is one place you can catch yellowtail from the beach. San Francisquito is my favorite spot in Baja.

Awesome pics, thanks for the great report! I love that area, haven't been there for years. How was the road between San Francisquito and BOLA? Was there anyone running the place at SF?
Ruffo, you seem to be living the dream!

Haha, yep the fish destroyed the hooks on my Bass Pro Shops XPS Laser Minnows but they really wanted those lures. Not even a sniff on my favorite Krocs, I could hardly get followed on the Yozuris or Luckycrafts but it was a fish a cast on the XPS. Been carrying those damn things around for years without using them so they finally paid off. Heading to BPS tomorrow to get some more :)

The road from BOLA to SF is a typical rough baja dirt road but doable. That being said it took its toll on my 4x4 expedition as I broke the rear differential and roasted and axle. Most of it is the Baja 1000 course so prob a bit more rutted in the turns after the race.

Yes, Juan and Leo are still running the place at SF. It's RUSTIC, lol, but got cabanas with beds, bathrooms with water (sometimes) and a restaurant with Rosa making some of the best food in Baja. She made some of the best birria I've had and she whooped up a coulple octopi, that I traded some venison for at San Rafeal, ranchera style that was out of this world.

Ruffles aka Ruffo, so how was the partying. Or was it more a laid back relax trip which is unusual for you. Looks like you had a blast. What kind of camera did you use or was it a fancy cell phone you have. Ese Juan has taught you well on the baja porn pics.

Haha, Joe, you know the partying was WFO every night!

I don't mind drinking alone but rolling solo provides a great opportunity to meet new friends and everyone enjoyed the selection of Tequila I brought. Matter of fact the father/son team in SF were able to keep up and when the bottle was dry it turned out they had a nice bottle to follow it up with.

When I was in SQ Juan and I had a nice night discussing the subtle differences between Spanish and Mexican wines and photography while solving the worlds problems.

Most of the pics were taken with my Nikon AW130 camera. Waterproof and WiFi so I can send the pics to my phone. The pics of the fish and the crab were taken with my cell phone cause it's hard to take selfies with the camera :)
