I agree with Max, the pot is full-fare paying customers. You don't get pay $10-$20 to get in the jack-pot if you have a free ride...WRONG!!!

People who find any reason to bitch about JP's should probably just pass on entering. Its not a perfect thing but if always finding reasons to object whether popular opinion or not why subject ones self to the frustrations

Ok all you folk out here are on some other planet. More than not you are NOT going to win the jackpot, sorry that is the way it goes some of the time. Pinheads minor threat, Deadheads well that's another thing. Did I just fix the coffee maker and the toaster so you could eat in the morning, well your welcome. Maybe that's how I got my ticket Did the Pinhead just clean the head after you puked? Did you see him tie a new sinker and hook for your son? Yep you know him. Did you Thank him No. Face It You Lost and will never prevail with your atttttt

I was a pinhead then deckhand in the late 80s early 90s. Old school rule was if you were free-riding, no JP. If a pinhead or deckhand no JP. I will say this. I never cheated as a deckhand but I would throw choice baits to the regulars because they gave the JP to the crew and would get a free-ride ticket. When I go out on the sporties now I pay full price and pay for JP and give it to the crew. That's just the way I do it. I don't care what anyone else chooses to do. When I win a bet I don't tell the bookie "Hey here's for the trouble." If someone keeps the JP then good for them.

To add insult to injury, I have always given the jackpot to the boat and crew. No more. Congrats.

I have always been confused why the JP goes to the crew. I usally give a bigger tip when I win, my tip plus 20% of the JP. Thats my money.

Do not really want to spark controversy here but i happen to be the "semi Pro" pinhead that won the jackpot. To answer al questions and retorts and put this to rest, i paid to go on this trip. Now the reason i help so much during these trips on the chiefs is because, I fish this boat often and happen to be have be friended some of the crew because of that frequency. I am also very blessed to be financially stable and have the time to be able to fish these trips relatively often. For me catching a fish is awesome. But whats even more rewarding is putting someone who has never caught a tuna on their first bluefin. It is a cool feeling.

I help cut and gaf to make the lives of these deck hands easier during this hectic season, that consists of turnaround multi-day trips on a almost everyday basis. I payed to be in the jackpot, which out of the 6 times i have fished this boat this year including rockfish, was the only time i came out victorious. The jackpot was donated in whole to the crew which they deserved.
