I was looking for an inexpensive bait rod for 30 lb. I see the Axis is rated 25-60 but was told it's really a 30 lb rod. Has anyone fished these rods?
I have yet to have one in my hands so I was looking for some feedback.

I have this rod and also a 720MH. They both have pretty soft tips since they are composites and are mod fast action, maybe that’s why some consider the 780H to be more of a 30lb rod.

To me the 780H is 30lb minimum, where the MH you can drop down to 20lb when necessary. So it depends on the range you want to fish it.

I use mine for 30#. Feels good but hasn't been tested beyond a few yellowtail

I pulled the trigger on the Axis 780H. I think this rod should work just fine. It’s lighter than I thought it would be and is a nice looking bait stick.

I has a nice soft tip and plenty of backbone for fishing 30lb. This has more of a softer action I liked back in the day on my Fenwicks and Sabres
For the price I think it was a good deal

My experience with the Phenix 25-60 rated rods is that they’re a 30 to maybe 40# rods. I use the psw760h for 30#.
