Left shelter island at 530 this morning with a great scoop of bait. Only one boat ahead of me at the bait line which was a nice change. Cleared the point and was met with amazing sea conditions. Pointed the boat towards the 425 in hopes of finding some dorado inside the temp break around that area.
Water temps slowly began to rise a few miles shy of the 425 and I found about 10 small kelp that were all dry. I passed the 425 and started working SW, water temp was 69.5 in the area.
At 12/23 i saw 2 little splashes so i slowed to check it out. I grabbed the stick bait and threw it out and was instantly blown up on. Got the fish to the boat and threw 2 dippers of bait and the ocean erupted. It was wide open of a bite I've had this year. I ended up with a limit of quality fish by 830 and released 6. I called out the numbers and the first boat to show put a few on board before the other 15 boats showed up.
I split shortly after and stopped on a few more empty kelp before heading in. Beautiful morning and was back to the dock by 1130. They are still around and biting, good luck!
