Another new rod for Brian Najera.........this time it's a Phenix PSW 809H Black Diamond. Brian got a good look at the raffle rods I made for the Batson booth at the recent Long Beach Fred Hall show. So this one is very similar to those with a couple of minor tweeks. Rod features 100% Batson components. Alps XTCXNZG zirconium ring guides, centra-lock reel seat, Alps aluminum gimbal, EPDM "BattleLon" grips encased in flocked non X shrink tubing.

He'll be really happy with that one. Nicely done, as usual.

Jim, did you put it over the 1.00” or 1.25” o.d . BattleLon?

This one was the 1.00" Steve, very similar to those three raffle rods I built for the booth.

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments! :D

Thank Jim. I really like the feel of the no flock heat shrink. I've been using it a lot lately over EVA, need to try it over the battle on.

Yeah same here Steve. The EPDM is a lot lighter than regular hypalon..........not quite as light as EVA, but close. It's like the best qualities of both in the BattleLon.

Adam, they're intended for use with a rod belt that has a pin to lock into. When fishing while not using the belt, you slip a butt cap over it.

    It’s a sweet rod
It probably also helps with balance. Knowing my dumb ass I’d forget about it before the fight and end up hurting the next day

Also how do you like those guides. Would those guides be good for a surface iron rod?

These are actually some of my favorite guides, yes they're excellent.
