I keep hearing people say they have seen Phenix rods break. I have 4 and have never had one break.
While at the PCS show one of the guys in their booth told me that there is a “lifetime warranty; no questions asked”. He said take it to any retailer for a replacement and if not to call their Santa Fe Springs office and they’ll get it taken care of.
Has anyone ever had to submit a claim for one?

They will but there is a fee associated with it, basically you are getting a rod at reduced cost. I broke a Black Diamond Hybrid a couple years ago and sent in the form, a check and parts for replacement but I eventually gave up as they still didn't have any blanks after six months of waiting.

if a store handles it, maybe but not their job… There is also a fee so you would have to pay the shop then the shop pay phenix…

if you break one, go through phenix but its not free

I like my Phenix rods, never broke one, but I did have an issue with some guides on a black diamond. Their warranty is not great. Nothing was discounted even a little bit.

I had a hybrid xxxxh snap while fighting a fish. Called them and they sent me a replacement at no charge. Dealt with them direct. Had to send snapped rod back. They were easy to deal with.

    From the Phenix website:
    "America No-Hassle Replacement (Recommended)
Phenix Rods offer a no-hassle replacement policy for anglers living in the continent of North America. For damages determined to be from an accident, normal wear and tear, or neglect, you will receive an accelerated direct replacement of the broken rod with the fees stated below.

If the specific model is unavailable, you may choose an alternative model at the specific MSRP price point. If you like to change to a different rod model, which we call an “upgrade,” you may choose by simply paying an extra upgrade fee. The Upgrade fee is the MSRP difference between the new and the damaged rod/blank. Sorry, there is no downgrade.

After submitting this form, a customer support specialist will send instructions with a subtotal fee according to your selection (see the fee chart below). Customers may also process the America No-Hassle Replacement program with an authorized tackle shop or Phenix headquarter to avoid shipping costs."
Go to their website for pricing and other information.

    4 fishing or accidential too?

    4 is hard to do
I've found many ways to break rods through the years. Of the 4, 2 were while fighting fish and 2 were accidentally broken while fishing.

Here is a picture of a 90H that broke after 5 hours fighting a BFT in Newport. Shit happens....

My dumb ass crushed one of their rods by overtightening a clamp. I also broke one of their black diamond hybrid series while bouncing a fish. When I took those in I also took a third one that had the finish begin to crack after two seasons. They replaced all three with new ones with a fee despite me arguing that it was quality issue on the third one. After that, I sold the three new ones they gave me along with the few other I had and never looked back. Yes they have lifetime warranty but not sure if its worth the fees and the hassle. I think I paid just over $400 in fees.

The Hybird are cheaper materials then the black diamond, yet they cost more. Go figure.

Axis is built like a Calstar gf, I would say the abyss is more limp.

A trick to prevent the reel seat from crushing: wrap friction tape around the base where the reel sits.

Damn don’t know how u broke it bouncing fish. Unless u high stocked it or the jig hit the blank.
