paired with a Tranx, will this thing load up enough to cast a big surface plug?

The JRI 4 is 45 or 7x sized, right?

    It's bigger. JRI 4 > 7x > 45 > C

OK thanks. How's it do with a 45? Too fast?

I use a Lexa 400 with the smaller jigs and it throws them just fine.

It's fine for fishing with a levelwind and spectra, but I personally feel it's too fast for a traditional style jig stick. The Phenix AXIS and Abyss blanks are more that style of a rod.

I have a 90J too so I have the old school covered. What I want here is a little beefier graphite stick so I could pull a little harder without it hurting me. Pulling hard on that 90J will kill a grown man.

What I saw at the Fred hall show was sick! It's a Phoenix axis 1009 30-60 pound rod for tossing iron. I pulled on it and it's a freaking beast. It's definitely my next jig rod. You gotta check it out

I have 909xhj custom wrapped, with a split grip on a lexa 400. It's basically a heavy duty bass rod. I mainly toss megabaits and diamond jigs from 1-4oz, occasional tady C. For traditional iron it really is to fast-action IMO. I prefer my 100j for my 7x & 45 tossing.
