Anyone else notice that the newer models of the M1 82H have a softer tip on them now? I picked up 2 new blanks and wrapped them and compared them after the fact to a factory 82h and there is a very big difference in the tip. I think I may like it for throwing bait better.

Interesting to know. I am trying to decide on an axis 820H vs XH. Seems like the fleet is no longer targeting bluefin so thinking a 780H might be the way to go.

The M1 series was more for Calico and YT fishing and smaller grade YFT/BFT. I was looking at the Axis too for larger YFT/BFT, the 720X2H or 720X3H.

I fish party boats so the 820 or 780 helps in navigating the crowds and for casting bait farther from the boat.
