Hey Carl, you do realize there is a difference between doing a Pete Rose head first slide and a belly flop short of the bag right?:D

Commissioner Rob Manfred just rejected Rose's reinstatement.
Now 0/3. I think Bud Selig had something to do with it.

Bet on the game, no matter, you ruin the integrity of the "game".

    Morality is only ones interpretation.

Pete Rose will always be a legend, and will always be part of my early day memories of a great player, and sport that I loved.

I no longer love the "sport", but will always love the game.

And Pete Rose, among many others should never be allowed back/in MLB.

But Pete Rose didn't ruin Baseball.

If they're knowingly putting PED users into the HOF, then Pete Rose should be in. He accomplished his statistics playing clean, whereas the PED users were playing dirty.

It's sad that he could not control his gambling, but it can be an addiction to some, just like alcohol or drugs, unlike the willing and knowing PED cheaters.

All that said, I could careless about baseball. They lost me after the '94 strike and their PED driven home run era. I knew that home run production was not real, so why should I watch that crap?

Manfred was put in tough spot in having to rule on Rose's reinstatement 26 years into a life-time ban. Other players with character flaws have gotten in the Hall Of Fame.
It's the Hall of Fame , not the Hall Of Saints !

http://www.nytimes.cohttp://www.nyt...-hall-of-fame-has-always-made-room-for-infamy, just not in Pete's case, yet.

Pete is likely a little more famous because he is not in the hall as his name and the issue comes up year after year. However, he is likely loosing out on some other opportunities for the same reason.

If getting in the HOF was based solely on what one does on the diamond, he should no doubt be there. Since the hall of fame is all about recognizing the best players in the history of the game, and Pete is probably top five or ten a worst, that makes him part of the history. History comes in many forms, some good and at other times not so much.

If the hall is trying to recognize all the best players, they need to recognize them for both the good and bad, including the alleged when applies. Nothing wrong with telling it like it is or was. If history does not tell the whole story then it's not really history. We simply cannot just act like some things never happened and all is good.

Many of the major awards and HOF's have become so selective, subjective or politically correct, that it makes them meaningless in my mind.
