Great job! I was in the witness protection program for a while too - then she died and I was able to remove that annoying happy face sticker.
How did you rig the terminal tackle (ie how many feet of leader and where was the weight)? Did you use lights? Was it a direct drop or were you using a float system? Did your sonar show marks at that depth (DSL)?
Probably ditchin work. Didn't want boss to see he was out fishing.

No, with the fly-gaff in the head and secured to the stern cleat, it was calm. Put a gaff in the tail to help with the tail rope and it went ape shit. Dislocated Jeff's right hand ring finger as he was putting on the tail rope. those are gaff marks. We were soaked by it.

I have a Hooker Tiagra 50W/T150 WLRS with all the whistles, but the fish ate the buoy rig with a Kaigen Banax 1500 on the dreaded Daiwa Dendoh 6'6" 40-100 with the swivel tip extension removed. 80# braid to 250# leader. When I can get a Winthrop tip, it will get changed out. Otherwise reel and rod were up to the task.
