I'm going to put some 20lb braid and try mine for rockies this year.

Tried to sell it and got no takers so might as well.

All,
The ICAST show will be here in just a few months [OK, in July!].
What new reels and rods [or changes/mods in current models] in the PENN lineup would you like to see?
I need some ammo for the product development meetings we will have there.
I am primarily asking about "west coast" ideas, though ideas and changes that make overall improvements are also great.

Too bad, that show will probably be canceled.

I think a series of $100-$150 rods would work for you guys. Like a 15-25, 20-30, 20-40, 20-50, 30-60 class of rods in the 7ft to 9ft range would be beneficial. There is already a following for your reels and a ton of people look for an affordable set of rods to pair with their reels. Lay some inserted guides on them, and have your rods be reminiscent of the softer GFGR series of rods and I'd think you would have customers comming for y'all.

I do not thing a quality rod can be manufactured at that price.

I’d like to see a means to lock the drag lever on my internationals.
The lever, being right next to the crank is easy to inadvertently move in the heat of battle, and can have disastrous results.
Charter customers are famous for bumping the reels into freespool at the worst possible moments!

Wonder what that would cost $300~?
Is the torque made in usa?
Depends on a few things. Can they bring the molds from china since they already paid that tooling, what are the numbers they expect to sell and what margins are they willing to operate with. Then there is labor cost in assembly. If they wanted to they could do it.

I suspect it would price that fathom out of its market niche

I would say not with what is currently happening. Right now would probably be a prime time to source a manufacturer and put down a significant order size. Definitely wouldn’t work if you want to manufacture here in CA but a business friendly state (TEXAS, Wyoming, Florida etc) and it can be done.

Yes, PENN's "made in USA" reel lineup is: all International VI lever drags, all Torque lever drags, all U.S. Senator star drags, all "Z" series spinning reels, 12/0 & 14/0 regular Senators, all Torque II spinning reels.

Tell them to bring Penn back to the USA.
Lots of smart people that can figure out how to keep the cost down.
Make America great again.

My area use to be full of small machines shops.
They mostly went away with the NAFTA, Maquiladora biz.
