1/13/19 - Headed offshore about 11 miles off San Onofre and found a few paddy’s that had small and decent sized yellowtail under them. Tried everything from jigs to live sardine but didn’t get any hookups until this monster inhaled my colt sniper. Safely released this little guy to grow bigger to catch another day. Nice day out there on Sunday, hope the yellows are still around after all this weather to get another shot at a bigger one...

Reminds me of a deal that happened to my friend this year. DFG--I mean DFW, boarded him, and checked--the bait tank. Said he had illegally small barracuda among the damn Bait. Let him off with a "warning", so I guess in the future, we need to inspect our scoop of bait---"hey, that's not a Dean--that's a (whatever)" and while we are talking about it, better be sure you know what a new borne whatever looks like.

OR be sure the warden knows WTF they're talking about... A buddy had them trying to give him a ticket for having 'baby lingcod' in his tank- they were lizard fish.

Nice fish man, seen Freelance load those babies up!

those PB fish are ones to remember for a lifetime!! lolol... my buddy got his PB bottom critter at the mouth of SD bay... I still send him this pic about once a month to keep his perspective that some times there are good days and sometimes bad days. he always replies back with a middle finger emoji! :D

similar experience last Sunday. cheek out probably 20 paddies between lower and middle 9 mile and none of them yield. we weren't even seeing them or any bait under the carpets* until a free diver jumped in the water and saw a school of 100 YTs. clean water, healthy bait, new lewers, zero interest form the fish.

yeah we found a lot of paddys as well and marked a lot of fish and bait but had trouble getting any of them to bite. Although, some people seem to be catching a few here and there. May have to do with time of day when they want to bite.
