Is what I call it. If you went out and caught fish every time what fun would that be? Shut up!

Here's me heading out at 7am with optimistic enthusiasm.

    Got the shit

    SnapShot(1).jpg
Bout' 10 Geenbacks, 2 Spanish and 1 sardine

Haven't tried to locate bait for the last 4 trips. Always good to hone your skills by knowing the locations which are working. Lately it's been really slow for leadhead bottom fishing, my staple, The plan was to tie off kelp and fish large bait to go for Gold . . . or bust.

I thought Poaches/Christmas Tree area in about 40ft. What happened to the kelp bed? Barren, what a shock. That area used to have an abundance of growth. Kept heading south and found a nice pasture north of Mateo.

    SnapShot(3).jpg
Dropper looped a Mack on the edge of the fringe while fly lining a free swimmer, meanwhile waiting for a toad. 2 hours later with no luck I headed north, fished the pipe and caught 2 Calicos, shorts.

Water was 58 - 60 slightly green, fairly clear . . . south. Lots of kelp and eel grass in the water, floating everywhere.

What a beautiful day on the water.

I still like DP but not as much as I used to. Most of my spots are north and now protected because of the LB snobs lobbying to protect "their" beaches. Emerald Bay to Table Rock. (If I'm wrong, apogee will straighten me out) That's a huge chunk of excellent spots. the Slider is perfect for fishing those reefs.

The good news is that some spots that didn't have much kelp are flourishing while others are barren. Overall there is less.

I haven't fished SO pipe in ten years. How did you fish it and what is best to target?

I miss making videos. Unless you have good content there's no use. I already have a few bass videos so I didn't want to get too repetitious. These pictures are snapshots from the moving cameras. So I still am taking the cameras in hopes of capturing something worth editing. At least we have your good videos to watch in the meantime.

There is the long pipe 33 21.24 over 117 33.35
    And the short pipe 33 21.19 over 117 33.92
And inside of that is another pipe jetty thing 33 21.79 over 117 33.78
I would dropper loop a mackerel or a sardine
when you tie the dropper loop leave three feet from knot to weight
Drop to bottom then take two reels and put it in gear and hold on

Inputted the numbers Hardcor, thanks. Now I'm wondering the target. Don't tell me.

Dropper loop at 3' in 40- 60 feet. (I like tying them low too) In gear or just clicker on? And why?

Tight drag in gear. This is a big fish area. White and Black seabass, Ling cod and Yellowtail. 1980 I got my largest halibut at the short pipe. When San Onofre was going full speed this was my favorite inshore spot
