My paint keeps peeling off my sliding door. I want to strip it all off. Looking for a recommendation on stripping the paint without gouging the aluminum door.

You need to address the corrostion issue this is why your paint is coming off.
And why so many hate painted aluminum.

A patch job would be grind it back, epoxy then repaint.
Or, sandblast the door epoxy and repaint.
Or something of the sort.

It looks like it was not prepped properly and white rust is under the paint.... you you probably already knew that....

Maybe take it off and have it soda blasted or sandblasted....

I think if you do a patch or complete door, it should have an acid etch primer for best adhesion... epoxy can do the same as paint if moisture gets under....

The acid etch primer actually burns itself into the surface for a bond..

O'reilly's auto parts sells gallon cans of aircraft paint remover. (Don't know why, lol).

Took the paint off a van hood easy peasy. Not too expensive either.

I am not planning to repaint. I just want to strip it off and let it oxidize. I will have to check out the paint remover.

I used that stuff, in a spray can from oreileys. Worked ok on spray paint. Overspray burned a little on my bare legs from what I remember.

Klean Strip Premium Stripper. You can get it at Home Depot and Mclendons. Unfortunately last year the EPA banned the methylene-choloride version of stripper being sold to DIYers. That was the key ingredient in aircraft paint remover. The new version just requires a little more elbow grease.

If that we’re mine I would disassemble all the accessories like windows and door handle. Then I would buff off the paint with a red scotch brite pad.

I hate paint stripper. Guaranteed to get it on something you don’t want and then disposal isn’t fun.

I have a soda blaster you could borrow if you have a good compressor, or take the door off and bring it to me and I would help you out. I just finished blasting my bottom paint off my boat and repainting.
