took a 1.5 day trip on the pacific voyager this weekend and we had blast!
it was our first trip with capt. mark and his crew and we were very impressed!
i really enjoyed the captains attitude and desire to not only find us some fish, but he was determined for us to catch our share.
it was refreshing to have a captain that was that hardcore about catching fish, yet he was still super friendly and treated his crew with respect!
anyway we went hunting yellowtail about 65 miles down.
i think we were near the isle of st thomas?
we found tons of birds spotting fish but the YT's spooked easily when we approached.
giant schools were all around us but getting them to bite wasnt as ez.
we did manage to scratch close to 30 very nice yellowtails to 35 lbs!
    with a few nice bonitas.
captain mark really seemed impressed with the sheer amount of fish in the area.
water temps still a bit cool around 59 degrees.
towards the end of the day we started looking for bottom feeders.
we pounded the white fish and reds to finish up the day.
all and all a very nice trip!
    great boat and great crew!
if you get a chance to fish on the pacific voyager dont pass it up!
i'll try to post a couple pics tomorrow.

also we were the only san diego boat down there.
there were 2 other small boats in the area.probably from ensenada.
they followed us around much of the morning.
but other than that, it was only us.
i've never threw so much iron in my life tho!
im a little sore,i hate to admit.
and its always good to hang with my ol man and my bud,"uncle mike." goodtimes!

My buddy Kyle and his son Garrison were on this trip. This was the first time they have been out past any further then the kelp bed of PL and they landed 3 YT between them. Kyle could not say enough about how well the crew treated them.

    i hooked 3 and landed 1 pig.
my first hook up my new reel just about fell off!
so when i straightend it up i got a little slack in the line and thats all it took.
    daaaah!
my third hookup just pulled free near the boat.nothing i could do
yeah i talked to kyle and his boy a bit.they were the first 2 guys on the boat.
they seemed to have a good time and were pretty stoked with landing 3 yt's
i think the whole boat had a good time!

i guess my batteries in my camera were almost dead, cuz the pics kinda suck.
and im not to sure how to download them either.
    i'll try again around lunch.
one more thing about the trip.....
mark was absolutely gitty about how much yellowtail were out there!
he kept saying "i cant believe how many yellowtail were out there!"
and"there are huge schools of meat everywhere, someone get an iron on them!!!"
    i really loved his excitement!
im getting all excited right now just thinkin about it.
and if he's right,we should be looking at an epic year!!

Fantastic report and pics. Wish I was there.

PV and crew are amongst the best. I've known Mark virtually my entire life and let say emphatically - THE MAN LOVES TO FISH. He expects that his crew have the same passion, and to me, thats what makes his operation special.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a 3.5 day trip in late August on the PV. I may have an opening or two coming up.

665 - includes meals and permits

    fuel surcharge TBD

21 anglers max (fishes 24. I know thats a pretty good load, but it helps to keep the price down)

    Departs Friday 8/26 @ 10pm

    Returns Tues 8/30 @ 5am

3 full sun up sun down days of fishin.

    PM if interested.

I'm totally interested in going on this trip if it's not already sold out. What landing does the PV run out of? Jeff
