Fished the Queen on 6/10 to 6/12 and it was a real struggle. Those that fished hard got rewarded.. like sleeping maybe 1-2 hours on both nights and fishing pretty much all night, both nights. During the day time I believe we picked off maybe 10 and the remaining 27 during the night. 37 quality fish ranging from 40-150 (mostly in the 80-100 range) for 33 anglers with about half of them getting skunked, myself included in the unfortunate section.

Captain Gavin and Billy are just rockstars, and Johnny, Luke and Mike were just absolutely stellar. New face to me in the galley (Jacob) made just some awesome food. Can’t wait to ride her again.

The big dude with the 2 fish in the black hat is Jacob and it was his first BFT trip. And yes, that is a Torque Star 30 on a GF800M he fought for almost and hour and managed to get in his first BFT. A 100lber. Absolute champ. Pretty sure he’ll be back.

Awesome report/info/pics..and NICE TUNA everyone. Glad you had a great trip.

Hard to believe I started catching about everything as a teen On Pacific Queen with owner/Legendary Capt. Eddie McEwen in the 1960's. Pacific Landing in Long Beach.
The Queen still bringing home loads of fish to this day. Where have the years gone? LOL
    Here's a Great story of PQ/Eddie McEwen's 77years in the fishing/charter industry. RIP

Thanks for the report. Getting the stripe is tough, but there’s always much to learn and take away from every trip, especially on a boat like the PQ.

What was working during the daytime?

Flyline and sinker rigged sardines. I don’t recall anyone getting but on a colt or an sk during daylight. It was tough and the fish was scattered as I saw just about every SD boat except the RP, RR3, and Excel.

Great fishing with you guys! I ended up getting this 140lb fish on the last stop of the trip. I caught 2 fish the night before in the 50lb range and this fish all on a 250 gram sk jig. I hooked and handed off another good size fish but it was lost after about a 20 minute fight. What worked for me was casting my jig up current and by the time it got into the zone the jig was straight up and down, the guys getting scoped out didn't have as much success. I threw snipers, zakana's and small sk's during the day for nada.

It was fun fishing with you Andres! Glad you got a chance to get the gaffs in those fish. Makes it all worth it!

I'm still wondering if he had any idea about my "I got these cheeseburgers" reference, and I'm glad he didn't take me up on my offer, but the seeds were delicious!🤣 Anthony
