Those numbers are great! @Swede is spot on when I had my 26' NR with 150 I would avg. 1.5 on tuna runs. The handling in the turn looked tight. Did I hear in the clip you were at 4800? Nice job on the boat!

That’s terrific fuel economy. You’re gonna be a happy camper.

Good fuel economy but will not have the ride of a cat or deeper V monohulls. You all will take off and leave me in your wakes in the chop as I have to throttle back or get pounded lol.

Not sure if you built a fishing boat or a drag boat. Better fuel economy than a NR2700.
Bring it to Westport
I just skimmed through this and noticed it’s about a seven month build? if so, that’s actually impressive. Congratulations on the great final product and thank you for sharing.

with not being able to get out for halibut I figured I would finish the bait prep station. 20" deep by 40" wide. The two reels under the table will hold the shrimp lines.

The spools will only be there while shrimping. They are held on with four screws and will be easy to disconnect when not needed. I dont want them there full time as it is just extra work to have to clean them. The bleed barrel will also not fit when the spools are there. Not a big deal as I will not need the bleed barrel while shrimping, just while tuna fishing.

I love the pilothouse design. What would you say the pros and cons would be of your pilothouse vs a full pilothouse? The ability to spread out from bow to stern to fish is a huge plus I see. Also chasing fish around would be easier. Another plus I could see is less crowding on the back deck while fishing. What minimum width would you want on a pilothouse like that? This build still gets me dreaming of another project!!

you nailed the majority of the pros, The main downsides is there is not as much elbow room, it gets pretty tight between the driver and passnger seats when walking through them. There is plenty of room while seating in them. This is with a 8.5' wide boat and a 60" wide cabin. I would not go back to a standard pilot house boat unless I was using it for a boaterhome.

A walk around pilot house with a 9.5’-10’ beam gives ample room around the house and inside the house. It’s doable with an 8.5’ beam, but as Mark said, a bit tight. Still, they are awesome for spreading out fishers and reducing tangles. Ours is 30’ x 10’ and it’s soooo easy to fish 6 comfortably. A Capt’s door is super nice. A door along the other side is heavenly. Makes it excellent for people to walk from the stern, through the cabin, out either side, and when guy 1 is following a fish up the rail, guy 2 in the walkway can just back into the house and let guy 1 under.

Ditto…mine is 28’ x 9’6” with a scalloped gunnel around the 8’6” house. I strongly advise 2 doors. There is build thread around here…somewhere….

Obviously the big tradeoff is 360 degree fishability vs creature comfort…. and yes, i have owned both…. a few times… each….i must be a ….a slow learner….

That is a nice setup. It looks like the seat on the Captain's chair folds down for access into the cabin. What kind of seats are those? What kind of gear storage do you have with the doghouse style cabins? I would imagine if you had bench seats behind pilot/copilot then there could be storage under there plus under deck storage.
