Owner ST-66 vs BKK Raptor Z Trebles

Does anyone know the size difference between the Owner ST-66 vs BKK Raptor Z Trebles? Are these two comparable? I am planning to rig my flat falls with trebles on the bottom of the jig and a 7/0 heavy jigging hook on top.

I’d choose the Owners with a larger barb but many guys like the BKK’s. It’s preference. There are so many choices now days.

ST-66 are wicked strong. I lost a big bluefin, looked about 100# minimum just outside of gaff range on my last trip just before Thanksgiving. It freaked out at the boat looming overhead and surged away, ripping free. It had fought for fifty minutes with a single barb of the 5/0 ST-66 bottom hook on my knife jig snagged on his side above and behind the left pectoral fin. I regret that I was too tired to think of taking a picture of the piece of skin on the barb. But I can't think of another treble hook that could have taken that punishment.

OK,thanks for sharing. I was wondering the two trebles are about the same size. I guess just go ahead and order the owners.

The hook sizes tend to be mfg specific. A 2/0 Mustad isn’t the same size as 2/0 Owner… or a BKK.

Yes for sure, that's why I was trying to find out out how much smaller or larger were the BKK vs the Owner.

The 5/0 Owner works very nicely on the back of a 200mm Madmacs.

At the average 30# of drag, you will not straighten one out.
I prefer owner with the larger barbs.
Trebles are fairly small.

with the Owner 5/0 , incase he needed them on his 10 Day , that he is on now,
what A beast of A hook .

If I recall those BKK trebles are really expensive compared to the Owners.

I use 5/0 4X and 5X trebles and have never had a problem....

I have some BKK's at my house, 6/0 and 7/0, maybe errin can bring his owners and we compare...? or I can take measurements when I get home if I remember.

I ordered some 5/0 BKK Raptor Z but I don’t have any Owners to compare to. I was trying to figure out if I should put these on the joints I have or use for something else like rockfish. The BKK look really strong and can do the job.

I think they’re plenty strong. The only complaints about BKK’s are the small barbs.
