It was a slow day for us yesterday and two other boats we saw at wash off.

Left at dawn and hit R bouy. No fish and birds.
Ran the thousand to CO. No fish and birds but water was nice.
Ran the outside towards the pinnacle. No fish.

A little after the pinnacle headed toward S, the outrigger goes off in the blind and landed a decent spearfish.

Hit S bouy. No fish and just a few birds.
Back at washoff around 1 pm.

Generally the water was very nice but there wasn't much if any bird activity.

Too bad we didn't stick on the inside ledge like "nekine" with some awesome action. Talked to two other boats at the washoff and one ended up with a small mahi while the other boat ended up with no fish.

Enjoying some delicious sashimi and panko crusted hebi today...

Hey, I'll take a nice hebi anytime, Bob. Once you've tossed dinner into the fishbox, the pressure's off! Good going!

Thanks guys. I usually fish on the east side and this was my first Waianae trip this year. It was great to be able to easily plane out and around since the leeward waters are so calm.

It was definitely a nice relaxing day on the water and the boat ramp surge wasn't bad either!

    Hey Bob,
Thanks for the slab of hebi. I made some sashimi last night....was ono, especially with my Japanese curry and rice! I haven't caught a hebi in quite a few years...last one was several years ago at Waianae along with some otaru. Check out this pic....hebi went 51 lbs and the otarus ranged from 22-26 lbs.

Glad you liked it Russ. I never tried Hebi sashimi before and this was incredible. Ate more this evening. The sashimi's firm texture and freshness with soy+wasabi was excellent. No fishy or rubbery/mushy taste at all.

Definitely made the long trailer ride for me worth it.

Everytime I bring hebi sashimi to work I start a riot! That's good stuff!

That was a monster, Russ. I've never caught one close to 51 lbs.
