Hit the usual halibut spots outside mission bay on sunday with my buddies Dave and Mark. Seas had calmed alot from Saturday and the short drive was quick and easy. E-Bros bait was a great mix of sardine and good size anchovie. Water was 60 degrees, green and stained. The fish bit right at the tide swing and we were positioned well and got three nice fish. 25, 15 and 10 pounds or close to that anyway. Lost one other and released a decent BSB. All on dine, all within 30 minutes of the tide swing and all in the same exact micro spot at 85 feet. Only got a picture of the biggest, my buddy Dave is holding it.

Thats what I was saying all morning Matt, we have to be positioned when the tide swings, and we were.

are you finding more bites occur when the tide shifts from low towards high, or the other way around? I am working my halibut skill (not really skill yet).

Either way, to a high or down to a low, both sides of the swing and the bigger the tide the better. On small tide days, it doesnt seem to matter as much and fish may bite anytime. I like right when the current first starts to pick up and always go back up and drift over a spot where a fish was hooked.

    Good job on the Halibuts!!!.....

Sometimes when those things get going, you don't even have time to put them in the cooler!!!
