Origin of the palomar knot?

When I was a kid I read and re read my copy of Charlie Davis’ So Cal fishing book ‘Hookup’ until it fell apart.
If I remember right, the section on knots he wrote something like this- “The angling world is indebted to Chuck Palomar for this knot...’

It’s a good knot if not crossed around the eye.
The biggest fish I ever saw landed on one was a 205# bigeye on the 371.

Jack is the man ,I had the Honor of working for him in the Early 80s.On the Reel Fun.He always would say its the way I tie my hooks.Someone Else named it.
He is the original.

Just a NuCanoe Frontier now.
That Springer Knot looks like a good one, easy to tie. Im going to try it...
Finish with 3 wraps when using 15-30 lb. 2 wraps when using 40 and up

Yup

Strong and stealthy and easy to tie.
So easy that I tied my first one on the 1st trip I took to the lower banks after having seen it on-line. I caught the 298.8#'er in my avatar pic and a 321# two days later. Easy to tie indeed!

He just called it one of the newer knots with no credit to who came up with it in the 1985 printing.

Mel was a big influence in my young life.Yes I loved that man.
