Orange 'Harley' rod for a friend

    Definitely Harley-esque. Can you explain or take a better pic of the grip? Looks like a cord spiral? What finish? Any underlayment?

    It's basicly a doubled up cord wrap of orange and black (2+2), cemented at the ends. I wound it on really tight but we're not sure if we want to coat it, since my friend likes the feel of the cord as is. I was thinking mabye Scotchguarding the hell out of it might keep the ickies from staining the color. Anyone had any experience trying this? The rod might get a turks head added later (i.e. after I figure out how to do a turks head) so for now theres just a piece of X-wrap protecting the thread ends.

    I use a water based exterior urethane for sealing cord wraps, Works good
